Background information on Anton Reiche, Dresden:
The company was founded in 1870 by the then 25-year-old farmer's son Anton Reiche in Wilsdruff. He learned the art of sheet metal forming during his years as a journeyman in Paris at Létang Fils and brought it to his Saxon homeland. In 1877 he specialized in the production of metal tinplate forms and tinplate packaging. As he was a clever businessman, he processed the waste into toys, money boxes and advertising signs etc..
Crucial to his success, however, was the switch from expensive copper chocolate molds to the much cheaper tinplate chocolate molds. (Source: Source: M.Wolf Chocolate & Chocolate Molds)
