Background information about silver glass / peasant silver:
Silver glass is a double-walled, internally silver-plated glass, which is made exclusively by hand. Occasionally it is also called farmer's silver (peasant silver), which is then a single-walled silvery, sometimes shimmering golden glass. The term peasants' silver stems from the fact that the rural population of the 19th century couldn't afford silverware and therefore used the cheaper coated glass.
A mouth-blown double-walled glass blank is rinsed through a hole at the bottom (after cooling) by a silver nitrate-containing solution. Their silver purity is usually 99.99 %. The glass is now only coated on the inside with silver. Subsequently, the hole is sealed airtight by a glass plug. The resulting silver glass product can not tarnish, as is the case with silverware. It is easy to clean because the outside is pure glass. In the past, the exterior of the glass was often decorated with painted decors, etchings, engravings or glass applications. (Source: Wikipedia)
